Tools

Tools are the efficient way to perform activities to the repository.  We have included the below tools as part of CVS Manager, which will be useful during every Life Cycle of the  project/product.



Note:Currently, CVS Manager Tools works only for the projects configured with pserver method.

 Branch Creation Tool

The priority to release  Service Pack after the project/product release is inevitable to any organization. The Service Pack is the option to give customer the necessary fixes of the changed fileset over the release. The service-pack  trunk may be different from the MAIN trunk in most of the cases to segregate the changes  and to consolidate the fixes at any later stages of the release.

To facilitate the creation of branches for the service-pack release we have included the tool "Branch Creation Tool" through which the administration can be performed easily on activating/deactivating the branches can be done.

The following are the functionalities available in Review Tag tool. 

New Branch Creation,Edit Branch Details and Process Requested Files needs Sub Admin privilege to perform the tasks.

New Branch Creation:

This is used to create a new branch for the project after the release to give fixes to the customers at regular interval of time. The branch are to be created over the labelled version with hierarchy defined.

Eg., After the release if the sources are tagged as "RELEASE_2000", then the hierarchy should be RELEASE_2000:HEAD . This implies, first the branch should be created over the release tag and if the file  is not present in the released version then the  branch should get created over the HEAD version.

List Branch Details:

 Branch List will show all the available branches as below. Branch details can be edited by clicking the branch name from the list.

Edit Branch Details:

The created branch details can be edited to change the Branch Name, Hierarchy defined to create the branch and Branch Status. 

                                                                             

Note :   The Branch Name cannnot be edited if branch has created for any files.

Request Files in Branch:

Request Files in Branch is used to request files in the branch.  Select the Branch Name and enter the list of files one after another and select the requestor name to submit the files for branch creation

 

Process Requested Files:

The requested files list for branch creation will be listed here for processing. The details of the branch name, requestor,requested date will be available for better understanding.

Note:The "Reject Request" is to reject the request completely  without processing






When Branch Name is clicked the list of files requested for branch creation will be  displayed, which can be submitted for branch creation.

Query Branch:

Query Branch  enables the users to easily query the list of files in the branch with details of who requested the files, current status of the files requested, when the request is processed. Branch details can be easily queried based on the criteria of requester,  requested date and the current status of the branch with option to query between requested date and processed date.
